Last night's meeting of the local NAWBO chapter (Central Iowa National Association of Women Business Owners) was unique. Instead of the usual rundown of recent chapter activities, the women business owners sponsored a fund-raising event in the form of a combination silent and live auction.
We participated in both the silent auction and the live auction to raise money for a local women's recovery home.
The highlight was Cathy. Cathy has recovered from addiction to meth, has been reinstated to society after 3 years in prison, and has resumed a full time work schedule, all with the help of the Beacon of Life in Des Moines, Iowa. Her story is true, is heart-breaking and at the same time incredible.
Cathy's story drew tears, applause, hugs AND MONEY.
